I just realized the scores are misaligned but I don't have time to fix :(

CONTROLS:

WASD to move, MOUSE to aim, HOLD MOUSE1 to shoot.

The longer you hold, the larger your shot gets! You need to match the scale of your shot to the scale of your enemy. They are color coded to make it easier :)

The Game

You are a mediocre graphic designer, and out of nowhere, the shapes you've been meticulously scaling have started to attack you! Oh no! You'll have to carefully scale your attacks to your newfound adversaries and survive as long as you can!
If only I was at least a mediocre writer too.

You gain a point for successfully eliminating an enemy, lose one point for shooting an enemy with the wrong attack, and your score is reset if they reach you.

Some Notes

No menu, no sound.
I know the graphics are just screenshots and if you have a keen enough eye the sprites for the player and enemies are the same, just scaled to different sizes (I've typed scale too much already), meaning you can see the line width is inconsistent for all of them.
The charge speed also kind of sucks, really not sure what's going on with that, the final build and the preview in Unity was wildly different so I just guessed what seemed like correct numbers.

About Development

This is my third solo game in Unity, and third time in the GMTK Game Jam since 2021. I actually was planning on skipping this year again, but my flight got delayed so I actually have ~1 day free. I don't think I actually could try to do something for those entire 4 days, the scope creep would be absurd. I spent maybe 8 hours on Scale to Shoot.
Check out my other two games Color Theory from 2021 and Rig the Dice from 2022. In hindsight they are way better than this year.
In terms of the idea, I actually was originally going to do the ice sliding game from Pokemon (I stumbled on it when I looked up "easy Unity games") where the ice block you were sliding could change size. Problem is, I don't have that much time to A: figure out how to program it and B: design levels for it.  I was thinking about how scaling things up and down would let you fit things through other things, and I guess I saw something with top down shooters, and thought about a top down shooter where the challenge comes from shooting a bullet that changes in scale, making it easier or harder to hit targets.
I wasted a ton of time on the high score system, which is absurd since I've done it twice before. I've forgotten a lot.
If you saw my past game Color Theory, you know how similar the game looks, and honestly the idea is almost the same after I added the change in color the enemies and the shot. It was initially to help the player get some clarity on when they should release their shot, but now it's just Color Theory but with shots fired. Womp womp.
I hope I at least had an interesting idea with a somewhat interesting attempt at some kind of artstyle if you can really call it that. Hopefully I can try some other games.
